Christian Service is an important part of the La Salle experience. Rooted in the Catholic faith and the Lasallian mission, service helps students see the needs of others, respond with compassion and understand their responsibility to the wider community.
At La Salle, service is more than a requirement. It is an opportunity for students to grow as young men of faith, character and purpose. Through Christian Service, students learn that their gifts can be used to make a difference in the lives of others.
Service Hours
La Salle students complete Christian Service hours as part of their formation. These hours help students experience service as an essential part of their education and personal growth. Students are encouraged to choose service opportunities that are meaningful, responsible and connected to the call to serve those in need. Service hours allow students to move beyond themselves and participate in the work of building stronger communities.
Community Service Partners
La Salle works with community partners that provide students with opportunities to serve beyond campus. These partnerships help students encounter different needs, build relationships and understand how service strengthens both the giver and the receiver.
Through these experiences, students are invited to see the face of Christ in others and live the Lasallian call to serve with humility, respect and compassion.
Service Partners
La Salle students are encouraged to put their faith into action by serving with local organizations and community programs, including:
- GODOGOOD: Campus Ministry service opportunities at St. Francis Seraph Soup Kitchen and Fighting Chance.
- Our Daily Bread: Provides meals, hospitality and community support for individuals in need.
- St. Francis Seraph Soup Kitchen: Serves nutritious meals in a welcoming and dignified environment.
- Big Brothers Big Sisters: Connects young people with supportive, one-to-one mentoring relationships.
- Local Parishes: Offer summer service opportunities through Vacation Bible School, festivals and neighborhood projects.
- InnerView: Helps students track service hours, showcase their impact and earn national service recognition.
- VolunteerMatch: Connects volunteers with nonprofit organizations and service opportunities.
- Fighting Chance: Supports young people through boxing, mentorship and personal development.
William T. Cady Christian Service Hour Award
The William T. Cady Christian Service Hour Award recognizes students who go above and beyond in their commitment to service. This award celebrates young men who demonstrate generosity, leadership and a deep commitment to helping others.
By honoring outstanding service, La Salle reminds students that acts of compassion and responsibility are central to living the mission.
