High School Placement Test
Prepare for the Next Step Toward La Salle
The High School Placement Test is an important step in the admissions process for incoming freshmen. The HSPT helps La Salle better understand each student’s academic strengths and supports appropriate course placement for the start of high school.
La Salle also offers HSPT prep opportunities to help students become more familiar with the test format, strengthen key skills, and build confidence before test day. Students applying for admission to La Salle should take the HSPT during the fall of their eighth-grade year, either at La Salle or another approved testing location.

All prospective students who wish to be considered for admission to La Salle must take the eighth-grade High School Placement Test.

HSPT Prep Classes
Build Confidence Before Test Day
La Salle offers HSPT prep opportunities to help rising eighth-grade students feel more confident and prepared. These classes review test content, timing, test-taking strategies, and skills for approaching each section of the exam. Students receive focused preparation in the areas covered on the HSPT, including Verbal, Quantitative, Reading, Mathematics, and Language.
One-Week HSPT Prep Course
Dates: August 10-14, 2026
Time: 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Cost: $100 per student
This five-day course helps prepare rising eighth graders for the HSPT through test-taking skills, strategies, timing, content review, and practice. Students receive an HSPT prep book with multiple practice tests, content review, and strategies.
One-Day HSPT Prep Course
Date: Sat, November 14, 2026
Time: 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Cost: $50 per student
This one-day session is a focused crash course covering test-taking skills, key strategies, test content, and ways to maximize performance on test day.
